Warm-Up 1 asks you to write a personal presentation for a web site. This is a general message that goes out to everyone who visits the web site of the new company you've just got a job with. I.e. it needs to be informative, but a bit general - and a good piece of advertising for your new employer. In other words, you need to show how smart your new employer is for hiring you!

I grew up in Karlshamn, a small town in the South of Sweden. After graduating, I spent a year in Copenhagen studying textile design and clothes making. I then spent a few years working for an amateur Theatre group as a costume maker and set designer, in productions such as “Around the World in 80 Days”, “Peter Pan”, and “Fiddler on the Roof”. After a few years I realised that I wanted to experience something new and different, so I went backpacking in Australia, where I ended up spending two whole years. Coming home from that adventurous experience, I knew I wanted to work in the Travelling and Tourism sector. Now, I have recently finished my Bachelor in Tourism Science, and I am looking forward to new exiting adventures with the Västervik Experience!

Our newest addition to the team is Emily Telfer. Ms Telfer is 22 years old, born in England and raised in a family of two nationalities, Swedish and English. After her graduation from Upper Secondary School in 2010, she immediately started working as an assistant at a company that targets investments, insurances & benefits and has worked there up until now. During these years she has also been travelling rather a lot in a private capacity, and thanks to her passion for travelling, tourism, languages and her experience of finance we think that she will be a perfect recruitment as a part of our management team at The Västervik Experience!

Sheila has a large experience of managing successful teams in several companies within different branches. She has also a great experience of Project Management.
Her latest assignment before joining Paryd Projecting was a role as Project Manager in IKEA with responsibility of setting up a new store in Madrid. Sheila speaks four languages and is used to act in international environment.

Ms. Helena Lindholm has been working as a freelance photographer alongside her studies in tourism and economy, and is therefore well suited for the role as project manager on our upcoming plans for Västervik tourism life. After graduating her studies she spent a year working for traveling agencies, as a camp leader for children of all ages around the world, mainly in Cyprus and Italy. She speaks English, Swedish, Swedish sign language, German and is currently studying Chinese. She may not be too accustomed to our beautiful city but she is more than familiar with what a good holiday experience should be all about, for all kinds of interests. This enterprising young woman will offer a wide variety of ideas to add among our events, and we wish her a warm welcome to our family.

Valle is an energetic, 25 year old tourism developer from Gothenburg that really can take us to the next level. With a huge knowledge and experience from the tourist industry, he is almost custom-made for our position as project Manager. Before working with us he’s been travelling around the world and worked for several years with our country’s biggest event, Gothia Cup. On top of this he has a degree in Tourism Sciences.

I’ve worked as a project manager the last 15 years both with small projects with very limited budgets and big projects involving many people and large sums of money. I think structure and planning is necessary at work and also, at some level, in private life. Good planning makes it possible for me to have a career, take care of my family, pursue some hobbies and even get some time off now and then. During her time at the University of Gothenburg, she was active in international organisations in leading positions. In the student organisation AIESEC she was the Local Committee President in Gothenburg, responsible for an organisation of thirty people. She assisted trainees from China and India on their internships in Sweden. As president, she promoted Swedish trainees to companies in Chennai in India.
For the last five years, Charlotte was the customer service team manager at Sonus in Hamburg. In this position, she was the main European contact for the business clients of Sonus, many of them Chinese firms looking for opportunities in Europe. At Sonus, she tackled challenges with teamwork and spirit.
In her spare time in Germany, she founded the Swedish infiltration squad, a start-up with the goal to promote Swedish values in Germany. Charlotte organized events and ran media campaigns with a small number of volunteer workers. The initiative was a rousing success, topped off by Crown Princess Victoria’s visit to Hamburg. Other than promoting Swedish values, her free time include boxing workouts and choir singing.
She recently moved to Västervik with her German husband and two children to join our team and promote The Västervik Experience.

I studied an international program, and my interest in international questions is increasing every day. I love meeting new people from other cultures, with other experiences and backgrounds.

Because of this, I have recently stayed in Tanzania for three months after receiving a scholarship from the Church of Sweden. This experience opened my eyes to a new kind of tourism, and made me realize there is so much to discover all over the world.

My name is Johanna Lundgren. I'm 23 years old and come from a small town named Surahammar. Among my friends and family I would be described as happy, caring and organized. I love to travel and explore new parts of the world. After graduating from Upper Secondary School in 2009 I moved to USA to work as an Au Pair for one year. For two summers in a row after my year in USA I worked as a nursing assistant for elderly people. I recently received my Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Science from the Lineaus University. During my time at the university I volunteered at many tourism events and received valuable information from top leaders in the tourism industry. This new hire additions to escalate Västervik image and communication for the most important season in Southern Sweden tourism: summer. I have been working with business development for over ten years now, most recently as at Nordex Sverige AB and before that as a management consultant at Accenture. Moreover, I hold a MBA degree in Entrepreneurship from the Stockholm School of Economics as well as an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Chicago. It is my belief that my professional and educational background will come in handy when taking the business of the company into the 21st century by developing its international presence. ReplyDeleteMr. Svensson started his career here in Småland, and later branched out all over the world. His most astonishing merit is his previous employment which was at Samsung in Seoul, South Korea. He was part of an intimate team that was responsible for managing the company in South Korea. After a few years in there, but also spending some time in China and Japan is Mr. Svensson now fluent in Korean, can speak conversational Mandarin and Japanese. From an international business point is he a very good asset to any company and we are very happy to have him with ours.
Mr. Svensson says that he is very happy to be home again in Småland and we couldn’t agree with him more.

- I am born in the region of Alsjöholm and have been living in the US main part of my adult life. Since I wanted to live closer to my family and was missing the Swedish countryside, I have been looking for work opportunities back "home". What kind of experiences do you have?
- I have a Master of Marketing Research from Grand Canyon University and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Bentley University in Waltham. Before my studies I worked as an Insurance Agent, in the US.
What will you be able to contribute, at Alsjöholms Mekaniska Verkstad?
- My education together with my adequate linguistic knowledge in English and Swedish, will make me be able to contribute a lot of knowledge in the area of Marketing. Allow me to properly present myself, I will begin with that I share a similar background as the founder of the company; I too began my career at the same Project Management course which Ella Svedin attended here I Kalmar, I continued to Stockholm School of Economics for an MBA and a Bachelor in Global Management. Thereafter I relocated to Norway and has since then been engaged in several companies in different stages of Management and Investments, collaborating with firms from Scandinavia, Asia and Australia. With my 24 years of experience, I have a practical understanding how to expand a company without changing company values.
Additionally I appreciate challenges, languages and magnificent views. I believe inspiration comes from experiences; therefore culture, traveling and reading are activities which I enjoy and an occasional trip to the beach.

Due to my previous work as a consultant within the tourism field, I'm well aware of the challenges and competition within the industry. There is great need to create exceptional marketing plans with the right combination of skills expertise and the drive to produce outstanding strategies. I'm confident to say that this is possible for a company as driven and progressive as the Västervik Experience.
An experienced communication strategist, S Fernlund graduated from the Stockholm University in 2012, and has been the manager of consumer marketing PR for many notable Swedish companies, including VisitSweden, a company which aims to promote the Swedish trademark and Swedish tourism destinations on the international market.
- I see great potential for the development of tourism in south of Sweden. Given its strong international connections and its strategic position near Kalmar, I believe the Västervik Experience has some very exciting times ahead. ReplyDeleteI’m very pleased to introduce Karin as a new member of our successful project team here at Påryd Projektering. Karin brings with her a professional experience from heavy industries like Pulp and Paper industry, but also more sophisticated technology experience from the MedTech field.
Karin started her carrier as Service Engineer at a Paper Mill in Hallstavik, where she was grown up. Her previous positions include Field Support Manager (2007-2013), Product Support Specialist (1999-2007) at Elekta Instrument AB. Senior System Engineer (1997-1999) at SAAB Aerospace. Senior Project Engineer (1996-1997) at Valmet Automation Oy. Senior System Engineer (1989-1995), and various positions at the mechanical work shops (1987-1989) at Holmen Paper AB.
Karin and her husband took the decision to move form Linköping to Påryd. When visiting Påryd you shouldn’t be surprised if you see them jogging around with a big smile on their faces. As Karin put it: “Påryd is a good place to live in and Påryd Projektering is a good place to be working on. I’m very glad we moved to Påryd where we can enjoy both our working life and our personal life - close to the beautiful countryside and surroundings of Påryd.”

ReplyDeleteIn 2009 I started my academic education at Örebro University. I’ve got a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Project Management. After my graduation I went to New York for six months to work as a Project Manager Assistant for a Project Management-company. This was a good experience and an opportunity for me to learn more about Project Management but also to see another country and learn about the culture. I believe that I can use this experience to do well at my new job as Business Manager.
When I came back to Sweden, my next goal was to work as a Project Manager for a while, which I have done now for the past year. Now I feel ready for new challenges and look forward to work with my new colleagues at Påryds Projektering in Kalmar.

I am Swedish, born and raised but after both getting my master’s degree in the U.S. and after working five years at a management position at Google I am used to the international market. I was born in 1990 and have since then gained an Master in Economics at SLU Alnarp, Skåne, Sweden. I have worked several years as an Business adviser, with an economic perspective and this is an experience I will use to help lead the company into an brighter future, by utilising business models and adapting procedures. This to be able to increase the yearly revenue that Påryd Projectering enjoys. I hope to increase the number of big clients and thereby start the expansion to a fully servicing investment firm. With the coming addition of new employees we will be able to expand to other regions and also better help our clients with their investment needs. Now you are probably wondering how I will initiate all this, I will use all my experience from both my personal and business life. We will approach our tasks as the professional athlete I once dreamed of becoming (for most of my childhood was spent dreaming of a future in horse back riding). We will use the same mental focus as I used when I changed direction from gardening to business and economics. With this Påryd Projecting and I will grow together forming a harmonised unit with forward momentum.

I live in the archipelago outside Mönsterås where I’ve been engaged in coastal environmental issues for several years.
I have a university degree in Natural Resources Planning and a Swedish Master Degree in Biology with focus on Aquatic Ecology from 1997.
Since 1997 I have been working as a research engineer in Marine Ecology at Linnaeus University in Kalmar. I have in different scientific projects, collaborated with researchers and students from universities all over the world, especially from Europe and USA, but also from South America and Asia.
I have also worked with administrative tasks as preparing presentations for conferences, figures for scientific articles and book chapters as well as editing the research group’s home page. For that reason I took a course in Web Development at Linnaeus University 2011.
My international and administrative experience together with my engagement in coastal environmental issues will certainly be an asset in my new position as a Project Manager at The Västervik Experience.

In her early twenties she moved to London to study at the London South Bank University from where she holds a Bachelor´s degree in Business Administration. After several of years of work experience in the British Capital she recently moved back to Sweden where she currently lives with her husband and their two children. Previous employments include working as a Sales Manager for Loréal in John Lewis and before that Johanna worked as a Floor Manager in the world´s best department store, Selfridges. When she is not at work she enjoys travelling and has spend a lot of time in South Africa helping a charity organization to improve educational opportunities for South African children. She likes to describe herself as a “hard working and results driven woman with excellent management skills”. We believe that thanks to her educational and professional experience Johanna will lead our team with great success and we are very pleased to welcome her on board.

ReplyDeleteWhen joining Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB in the early 2014, I instantly knew that this is where I belong. This is an exciting opportunity for me to contribute to the development of a company with a promising future.
My earlier work experience include more than a decade of teaching German and Swedish in secondary school, which has given me excellent leadership skills. Prior to that I did voluntary work in a Sahara Desert refugee camp, which gave me a deeper understanding for other cultures.
I hold a bachelor’s degree in German and Nordic languages, as well as a teacher’s degree from the Linnaeus University in Växjö. In addition to that I studied history and literature at the University of Hanover in Germany for one semester. My last few years as a teacher I decided to broaden my knowledge even further and studied social psychology, web programming and task management aside from work.
I am hoping to put my creativity and my skills to work and lead Alsjöholm Mekaniska Verkstad AB onto new goals. I am very excited to see what the future holds!

I hold a Master of science degree in Automation Engineering, and my previous working experience has been mainly in the manufacturing industry. Where I have been working with investments in manufacturing equipment, process improvements and quality issuses with subcontractors from Europe and Asia. I have also worked as Research Engineer, mostly with projects in value flows improvement and cost of poor quality. I’ve stayed within the company for ten years time, working with different types of managing projects and also in different positions. My latest position was Chief Project Manager for a project concerning LEAN processes within the consulting engineering group. After her studies she worked as a project manager trainee at Logent AB. Working with the company made her accomplish her goal which is her passion for hard work and improve her role as a leader.
